ABOUT ME
My name is Reut Pinto-Shilo, I am a communication and speech therapist, specialized in early childhood development. I have extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of children aged between 1 to 9 in communication, language and pronunciation in Hebrew.

DIAGNOSIS - WHEN TO CONTACT A SPEECH THERAPIST?
If you are concerned that your child has even a slight communication, language or speech delay or any difficulty, it is recommended that you apply for a diagnosis with a licenced speech therapist. Starting early may save many efforts down the road.

Communication difficulties include: little or no intent to communicate, struggle to keep conversation, difficulties in social functioning, and more.

Language difficulties include: difficulty in understanding spoken or written language, linguistic delay, poor vocabulary, struggling to structure a message, syntax difficulties, and more.

Speech difficulties include: Difficulty in speech planning, apraxia, misunderstood phrases, trouble in pronouncing and articulating specific sounds, stuttering and more.
After diagnosis, I can assess the child's development in each area and, if necessary, recommend training or treatment.
NB: It is recommended to get a diagnosis after performing an updated hearing test in order to eliminate auditory difficulty that may impair the ability of language and pronunciation.
TREATMENT:
After communication, language or/and speech difficulties have been identified, a personalized treatment plan for each child is created. The treatment sessions are pragmatic and enriching, conveyed in fun and games. Thanks to these games the child learns and develops as fast as possible. Additionally the parents are instructed on how to practice with the child at home thereby increasing the child’s progress.
Treatment usually takes place once a week.
It is important to note that early intervention has been shown to be particularly effective, and can prevent the escalation of difficulties and the development of accompanying difficulties, as well as reduce the child’s communication frustrations.
